Mr. David Wiebers is in his 9th year teaching and his 3rd as Director of Bands at Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth, Texas.  Mr. Wiebers, a native of Lawrenceville, Georgia, received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from The University of Georgia, and Master of Music Education degree from VanderCook College of Music.  Prior to coming to Arlington Heights High School, Mr. Wiebers spent 6 years as the Director of Bands at Flowery Branch High School in Flowery Branch, Georgia.  Under his leadership, the Flowery Branch band program grew from 40 members to over 115.  The performing bands at Flowery Branch received superior ratings in concert and marching band festivals and performance evaluations and the band has made appearances at the 2005 Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, Florida, the 2006 Sugar Bowl in Atlanta, Georgia, the 2009 Presidential Inaugural Festival in Washington, D.C. in addition to performances in New York City.
Mr. Wiebers studied conducting with Dr. John Culvahouse, Dr. Charles Menghini, Mr. Mark Cedel, and Mr. Allen Crowell.  He is also an accomplished trumpet soloist appearing in Tyler Perry’s featured film “Madea’s Family Reunion”, and Epic Recording Artist Cartel’s self-titled album (which also featured the Flowery Branch High School drum line).  He studied trumpet with the late Fred Mills, founding member of the Canadian Brass Quintet,  Dr. Edward Sandor, Mr. John Head, Mr. Allen Beach, and Ms. Glenda Smith.  He has performed with the Northwinds Symphonic Band, Petie’s Dream Big Band, the Athens Muskrat Ramblers, and numerous freelance orchestras throughout Georgia.  In 1999, Mr. Wiebers’ brass quintet won first place at the University of Georgia Brass Quintet Festival and Competition held in conjunction with the Narbonne Brass Quintet Competition earning them a full scholarship to the prestigious Interlochen Arts Camp.  While attending Interlochen, Mr. Wiebers was the lead trumpet for the Interlochen Arts Camp’s Jazz Band where he studied with guest artist Walter White.  Mr. Wiebers’ professional affiliations include: TMEA, NBA, NEA, and TSTA.
Mr. Wiebers currently resides in Mansfield, TX with his wife, Tina, and their two daughters, Rileigh and Abby.  They are currently members at Mansfield First Baptist Church in Mansfield, Texas.
